At WithDave we will provide a DofE expedition that will be challenging. You will have an experience to remember. You will learn something new. You may gain a qualification, but you will also have fun.
We do not do sausage roll factory DofE! We are not a high street store! We will create your sausage roll how you want it; the filling, the pastry, and baking time. As long as it’s cooked all varieties are catered for.
We love the outdoors and want young people to have a positive experience. So it’s not necessarily traveling 7,8,9 hours a day. For expeditions on foot, rucksacks shouldn’t weigh more than 25% of the body weight of the person carrying it and all rucksacks are weighed before departure and reasonable adjustments applied if required. DofE is about helping young people build a life-long belief in themselves. Supporting them to take on their own challenges, follow their passions, and discover talents. It’s not an endurance test.
We deliver our expeditions very slightly differently. We put the focus on the expedition team and the experience. We include food for training and expeditions (the team prepare the menu to a budget) Each team has their own instructor, they will deliver the syllabus but how the instructor does that to get the group to be a team is dictated by the group’s needs. Unlike some providers we will not be filling all the time on the qualifying with just traveling, we have the aspiration that the team’s aim will take a very minimum of 2 hours per day. We want young people to take more away from our expeditions than how hard it was each day.
To do this we have team’s that will make a cohort (3 teams per cohort Bronze and Silver and 2 team per cohort at Gold) with a maximum of 6 young people in each team. The instructor will be with their team for the Training, Practice and Qualifying to support the team. An instructors form another team will Assess other instructors’ teams.
